Rich raspberry pink and deep plum purple swirl together in this striking batik from Banyan Batiks, layered with an ornate damask-style motif of scrolling leaves, blooms and flourishes. A decorative border stripe of small flowers and vines runs through the design, adding structure and a beautiful sense of movement across the cloth. Like all traditional batiks, the hand-dyed background shifts and mottles from one area to the next, so no two sections look exactly alike.
Printed on smooth, tightly woven 100% cotton, this fabric has the soft handle and durability quilters expect from quality batik fabric. It presses crisply, holds a sharp seam and is lovely to hand or machine stitch.
The bold jewel tones make it a wonderful feature print for quilt borders, sashing and large-scale patchwork blocks where the pattern can be shown off. It also works beautifully in table runners, cushion covers, wall hangings, bags, garments and craft projects. Pair it with tonal pinks, purples and dark neutrals for a dramatic finish, or let it stand alone as a statement fabric.
